Stumbling Upon Old Work

I have been busy organizing and going through papers, and of course, I got a bit sidetracked and started to organize my images on my external hard drives. In doing this, I have stumbled upon older projects, many which I forgot I had. It really pays to be organized! I guess you can say this is my spring cleaning! :)

This was just a random evening in when my sister was visiting...

Bonne Fête à moi!

Today is my birthday...so...in ode to the day of my birth, I thought I would post some self portraits I had done at NSCAD. I will not lie, I enjoy self portraits for a couple of reasons, one: I am always here when I need a model, and two: I will do anything I want myself to do! Haha, I am only half kidding, I actually like doing self portraits because most of what I like to do conceptually is based on personal experiences, thoughts, and feelings, (like most artists), so of course I would use myself to express them through images.

Visit in the Valley

I arrived home in Halifax Sunday afternoon. My beautiful niece greeted me at the airport, with my sister and brother-in-law. I had made plans to visit with friends in Bridgetown, the town where we grew up. Our friend had come to Vietnam as well, and we had discussed me and my sister coming there with my niece, when I arrived back. Mary has many animals that I was so excited to see and also for my niece to meet. I took a few photos of our time there...here are a few to see!

WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie

As promised, here are some of the shots I took for their website and blog...just a few random ones to look at...

WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie

When I was working in Montreal, I was also doing some product shoots for WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie. This brand is so classic and chic...and organic! Their signature gold/silver zipper sets them apart from other bag designs, as does their close attention to detail with stitching and mixing textures. Click here to see one site the images I took were published.

More product images I took to come later this week!!

Not lecturing...just informing!

I stumbled upon a site with a few vegetarian quotes, here are a few I really liked!

If vegetarians eat vegetables, what do humanitarians eat?  ~Author Unknown

Heart attacks... God's revenge for eating his little animal friends.  ~Author Unknown

I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants
~A. Whitney Brown

To my mind, the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being.  I should be unwilling to take the life of a lamb for the sake of the human body.  ~Mahatma Gandhi

Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.  ~Albert Einstein

The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men. ~Leonardo Da Vinci

The Gods created certain kinds of beings to replenish our bodies; they are the trees and the plants and the seeds. ~Plato

Just a few of many to list. I find these so interesting to read, no?!

Attached are a couple of images I took, while hiding behind my camera, in Vietnam. I ended up walking away in tears, if you heard the sounds, you would understand. I want to say one thing about these chickens, they are healthy chickens that were taken care of and completely free-run...no huge factories here...if you are to eat meat, this is the best you could get, at least they had a decent life!

A picture my dad took of me cooking dinner while I was in Tennessee. He loved what I made, so I guess being a vegetarian isn't all that bad! :)

Starting Fresh...

This past weekend, I came to Toronto in search of an apartment for an April 1st move. I am happy to say it was successful! My stress levels are now lower than they have been in months...but not to say I am completely stress-free. There is still the job hunt I have ahead, as well as my many projects I want to get started on. I am finally able to focus on creating an Etsy account, and what I will be selling there...so more to come on that! My brain is flowing and I am very excited about the things I will be creating and selling...

I am still in Toronto, having booked a different way home incase something fell through...so here I am, at a cafe on Bloor St. researching and brainstorming.  Thing to look for in the near future...more photo shoots, the launch of my Etsy account with some fashion, photos and paintings! Also, will start to look for fair trade cafes to show some of my work I did in Vietnam...

Very exciting!!

Catching Up...

Before I went to Vietnam, and South America, I did a photo shoot with a friend and her alter ego Trixie Cups. She has been very patient, waiting for me to go through and retouch the ones I deem to be the best images. Here, after long anticipation, are my three favourites!!

Funtimes in Vietnam

Though I am back in Montreal, I am still looking through my images from Vietnam. I have been only posting the ones I would use in my portfolio, so here are some non portfolio taken images with people from the course! (A bit of behind the scene kind of image!!)
