More Toronto-ness

Not much to report on the exploration adventures just yet. The weather has been off; rain and snow with cold winds...not the ideal weather to explore a new city. But, the sun was out today so I am hopeful the winds will turn warm soon enough!

Tonight was a great evening for a bike ride, which we did...to the magazine store. Just a little  trip to get Laura used to biking in the city.

Here is Laura in the crap weather, en route to the grocery store last night...

The good news is my camera is out and I am excited and ready to begin some photo shoots...here is a self portrait I took this evening, right after I cut my bangs!

More photos will come...especially now that Mallory is coming to visit from Montreal. Expect some fun photo shooting to happen :)

Tuesday Evening Adventures

Today, my roommate Laura and I walked all over the city, and I am not exaggerating.  We set out this morning on a mission to find her a second hand bicycle for the city. No success this morning, so when we finally arrived home in the late afternoon, we went on craigslist and searched for some bikes there. Luck! We found a great vintage bike for super cheap, and were set to go out and get it. The one problem...there was someone else who was going to see it as well. So, we left our place in hopes we would get there first. After taking the subway, hopping on a street car, we ended up back on Queen West, (where we had been earlier today), and as soon as we were about to go to the location of the bike, I received a text saying it had just been sold. Typical. We even walked past the girl testing the bike out. The bike was beautiful as well, but cannot dwell on it. We decided to document our way back home, turning this little outing into an 'adventure.'

Optimistic about finding another fabulous bike!

 waiting at Osgoode station
it's coming...
not noticing we were going the wrong way home...whoops!

showing our feelings about going the wrong way/not getting the bike
haha...

Show Choir Canada National Championship

I went to the second and last day of the Show Choir Canada National Championship.  A friend of mine who works PR had asked me to come by and take a few pictures, while also enjoying the show. I was so taken aback by the talent! And their song choices, Fix You by Coldplay, Yesterday by the Beatles, Creep by Radiohead and a medley of Rent songs, to name a few, were performed brilliantly!

Here are a few images I snapped...*(these are more of the arty looking ones)*

Settling in...

I arrived in Toronto Friday afternoon with all my stuff jammed into a cargo van. It was a long day of packing, driving, and unpacking followed by cleaning and setting up; moving is exhausting! Have been settling in, organizing and getting things here and there. Hopefully today we will get a sofa, and finally the internet came today!

I have been keeping busy with friends, exploring the city and all there is here. Sunday, April 3rd, my friend and  I went to the Slut Walk, a protest against allegations from a police officer who stated that rape only occurs when a women is dressed inappropriately or a 'slut', basically saying we are bringing it upon ourselves. Last night, I went to see the Toronto Blue Jays play (and win) against the Oakland Athletics. They won in extra inning and for someone who does not watch baseball, I really enjoyed it!

Here are a few images of Toronto happenings so far :)
