MASKS

I am working on a new series of images, a concept I had thought of when I was still in NSCAD, yet I could never pull it together. I realize now it was because I had not had enough life experience. I recently started thinking about the idea of our society as wearing masks; never showing our true emotions/struggles on the outside. This is my MASK project brought back to life, and though I am still shooting, I wanted to share a sneak at what I am doing.

Sugar Beach in March

I discovered Sugar Beach when I got lost last summer, while looking for Cherry Beach. So happy I did get lost, because Sugar Beach has become my 'escape' from the city.

Remember Friendship Bracelets??

When I was in South America, I bought a few bracelets, 'friendship bracelets' to be more precise. I have always loved the look of layering 4-5 on one's wrist. I used to make them, and recently started back into them when a friend of mine asked me to make one for her. The trend that will never die, but I believe there is a way to make them look a bit more formal. Let's see what I can come up with, but in the mean time, enjoy these images!

texture and tone

Playing around with my lights, I wanted to take something rich is both colour and texture and show that with the right lighting and contrast, the object doesn't lose it's appeal. I don't think you need to know what the colours actually are, the object is so rich in texture and tone, it just doesn't matter!

Lighting Test #1

I have finally found some time to test out lights for my next project (which will be posted on here throughout the next few weeks). This is lighting test #1 with myself as the subject. Test #2 will be with someone else! I know the layout of how I want to light this shoot: using a reflective suface to bounce the light. Now, I just need a model other than myself to get the lighting perfectly adjusted!
