I recently shot a series for FAJO Magazine based on the 'selfie' image. To me, the selfie is an image that is taken of oneself - the self portrait - but always at the angle and framing most pleasing to ones self. With the smartphone, anyone can take a picture of themselves and then post to Instagram or any other social media platform, making it public for all to see how you most like the way you appear in a picture, and at any moment. This seems to have replaced the polaroid, which I like to think of as the first instant, 'selfie' camera.
These images were shot with all this in mind, and then edited to recreate the effects of the polaroid and the analog medium, with light leaks and other small details you notice from older images.
